In Danville, Illinois, Cletus’ past life was one filled with neglect and cruelty. He had no shelter to protect himself against the cold and inclement weather, and one day Cletus had jumped up on the fence to try and escape, but things didn’t work out so well.
Fortunately, animal control officers from Vermillion County Animal Regulations and Animal Shelter arrived just in time. A Good Samaritan had spotted the dog in imminent danger and contacted the shelter. Had Cletus lost his balance off the fence and fallen, he likely would have strangled to death.
The officers brought Cletus to the shelter, and after realizing that humans were there to hand out lots of love, food, cookies and soft, cozy blankets to snuggle in at night, he quickly responded to the kindness offered. Sure, Cletus looked like a big headed tough guy, but it wasn’t long before he became a staff favorite; a big cuddly dork and a loveable pooch.
Check out Cletus’ photos, and share this boy’s hopes and wishes with friends, family and social media contacts. Isn’t it time Cletus gets to have his own family?
An investigation is currently continues, however tickets for animal cruelty have been issued to the dog’s former family.
