Less than 24 hours ago, an approximately three-year-old mixed German shepherd mix gave birth to ten puppies. Just five days ago, this dog, now dubbed Chevelle, arrived at the Carson Animal Care Center along with another dog (Lucky – 9 months old) suspected to be her son. Shelter notes indicate both dogs arrived as strays and were both likely abandoned.
Chevelle is genuinely terrified. Check out her video:

Chevelle is currently being held in the medical ward, and this is just no place for newborn puppies. It appears as if this mom has had multiple litters in the past. Isn’t it time she be allowed to raise these puppies, and when they are old enough to be weaned and adopted, that this dog never has to worry about being a mother again?
