In Hoboken, New Jersey, a New Jersey man jumped into the Hudson River on Sunday, April 19th, to rescue a dog struggling to stay afloat in the moving water.
According to AbcNews, the man, who didn’t own the dog, jumped into the cold water on the New Jersey side. The weather was chilly and dreary. It is not known how the dog got into the water. No kidding – the water was cold; probably no more than 55 degrees.
Police said the hero had listened to the suggestion from the dog’s owner and swam beyond, in front of the dog, to better help to navigate the pup back to the shore. The entire rescue took less than a minute.
The entire rescue effort was caught on video. It started with the dog in the water with the current moving swiftly and the dog seeming to be struggling. The dog’s owner gladly accepts the man’s offer to help and made suggestions how best to help.
