Two chihuahua puppies living in Long Island, had to be revived with Narcan on June 15, after they ingested cocaine and fentanyl, according to the Suffolk County SPCA.

Suffolk County SPCA detectives arrested Adam Dziomba, 53, of Port Jefferson Station, New York; he is charged with two counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty. He was due in court on Friday.

Roy Gross, Chief of the Suffolk County SPCA, stated officers had responded to a local animal hospital. A toxicology report indicated that both male chihuahua dogs, Freddy and Tonto, approximately 15-weeks old, were suffering from symptoms of an overdose of cocaine. The ingestion of cocaine can be lethal to dogs. Narcan was administered to reverse the opioid overdose.

Chief Gross said that animal cruelty will not be tolerated in Suffolk County. If you witness any incident of animal cruelty or neglect in Suffolk County please contact the Suffolk County SPCA at (631) 382-7722.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
