A video shared by the Humane Society for Hamilton County (Indiana) this week, showed Major, the hunk and heartthrob pup, “majorly” depressed. Why? No one had offered to adopt this boy who had been at the shelter for more than 260 days. How is a dog supposed to get on with his life when no one seems to want him?
Once upon a time, Major had a family. When he arrived as a stray, the shelter called the number on his microchip, and his owners said they would be in to get him. Sadly, they never arrived. Major seemed to have been watching for their arrival everyday, but the sadness eventually took over, and it’s as if he had just given up. After that, Major became stressed and seemed to “endlessly” cry in his kennel.
It was then the shelter posted a video of Major on Facebook, asking readers to share his story and help this four-year-old terrier pit bull mix find his own human.

His video not only broke our hearts, but quickly went viral, and that’s how it all happened. In an updated Facebook post on May 18, Major is seen happily running up to the shelter staff and bidding each one an affectionate goodbye. Why?
You guessed it! Major’s new family arrived.
as he walked out the door with his new family, we couldn’t help but feel a major-sized hole in our hearts, but it’s quickly filled with happiness knowing that he’s found his perfect match.
The shelter thanked everyone for helping to share Major’s story, and stated it made all the difference.
thank you for being a part of Major’s journey and for helping us make miracles happen.
Please remember, there are so many stories out her just like Major’s, and the Pet Rescue Report tries their best to bring you their plights hoping that every dog, every cat, every horse and every animal in need of a home is as lucky as this dog. Please continue to share their stories.
And thank you everyone for saving a life. Please adopt a pet at a shelter near you and don’t shop.
