RESCUED! Way to go everyone!
Wanda watches the world go by, wondering why after 297 days at the Brooklyn shelter for New York City Animal Care Center, no one wants her. Sadly, this is Wanda’s second time at the shelter; in 2018 she was found emaciated as a stray. Still, she wagged her tail and thanked everyone for helping her.
And now four years later, she is back at the shelter, and for some unknown reason, Wanda is still as loving and as gentle as she could be. Almost her entire life she has been let down by those who promised to love and care for her, but she has remained sweet and happy; longer than any other dog in the shelter, hoping someone will come for her.
Through all the disappointments, her love for people has never wavered. She is adored by volunteers and staff.

The NYC ACC has made the placement of Wanda a priority due to her length of stay at the shelter. She is an absolute favorite of the staff and volunteers who have nothing but glowing things to say about this great girl who has been in the shelter over a year. Please give this great dog a home for her golden years!

Additional information about Wanda can be found here. Recent evaluation: 06/12/23 When the handler approaches the kennel, Wanda is laying down with a still, neutral body. When the handler calls her name, she rises in an instant, approaching the front of her kennel. The handler is able to leash her with ease, proceeding outside for a walk, where she quickly exits the kennel room. Upon arriving outside, Wanda displays a looser body, wagging tail, while checking in and walking moderately beside the handler. Wanda takes treats gently and will accept touch by allowing the handler to pet her. Wanda jumps onto handler playfully and follows commands such as “sit”. The handler returns Wanda back to the facility where before entering the building, Wanda sees another dog on an interaction and begins to wail at them. The handler escorts Wanda into the building and she enters her kennel room and kennel with no issue.
Please share Wanda’s plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.
