Advanced neglect and no one cared until St. Louis animal rescue promised ‘Grape Jelly’ a new life

Admin

On Monday morning Stray Rescue of St. Louis posted photos of a dog’s feet; perhaps two to three times their normal size. The rescue group, known for helping the abandoned, beaten, bred, fought, injured, terrified, defeated and betrayed, were heartbroken and couldn’t imagine how anyone could watch this dog walk around the sidewalks of the city; how she must have been suffering.

Two hours later, the rescue posted photos of the dog’s tail and legs. Fortunately, she had been rescued, but her condition was even more shocking than suspected. She had no hair at all. Her skin was itchy and raw. Her eyes were sad, and how could person after person walk by her day in and day out without stopping to help?

By early afternoon, Stray Rescue introduced her – meet Grape Jelly. After having been examined by the organization’s partner veterinarian, Grape Jelly was diagnosed with pododermatitis. Affected tissues may include interdigital spaces, footpads, nail folds and nails. Treatment usually includes shampoo washes, soaks and anti-fungal medications.

World, this is Grape Jelly.

Her worried eyes break our heart, but we are so happy she has made her way to us. She has a severe case of “pododermatitis,” which is a very bad skin infection. It started off very itchy, but as she scratches, the skin breaks and it gets infected. Overtime, the infection has just gotten worse and worse. It’s all going to be okay baby girl. We got you.
