For 10 days a loyal, little dog waited outside of the entrance of the Martin Luther King Hospital in Compton, California waiting for her owner to walk outside through the doors to be reunited. Tragically, that was not destined to be, but no one could figure out how to tell the faithful dog her owner had passed away and she would never see him again.
Who could have ever gauged the love this dog had for her owner? The two had been homeless; they lived in a small camp near the freeway. Everyone around them knew they were inseparable; that is until her “person” had to leave in an ambulance, and the little dog chased behind the vehicle all the way to the hospital. And waited!
Although the waiting had not dampened her hopes to be reunited with her person, who knew a hurricane would soak the area with gusty winds and downpours? Still the dog waited. Fortunately, it had been an army of compassionate doctors and nurses who had helped her with a makeshift shelter and supplied her daily with food and water. She wouldn’t let anyone get close enough to capture her; the staff named her Hilary because she survived the hurricane.
Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, met the volunteers and staff near the hospital and immediately got to work to help.

She is heartbroken, you can see it in her eyes. So incredibly loyal. She still doesn’t understand. There is no greater loss. If only she could talk.
Time will heal your broken heart.
