Emma is a forgotten dog whose only proof of existence was taken on July 2 when she entered the Miami-Dade Animal Services infested with ticks. And here at the shelter, Emma remains; a scared five-year-old terrier mix still hiding in the corner, seeking refuge from the noise and the confusion of the shelter.
On August 22, a plea to help her was issued from the shelter; sadly it all fell on deaf ears.
If history of dogs like Emma follow as have so many of their predecessors, Emma will contract an upper respiratory infection, will cease eating, won’t get her antibiotics hidden in her food, will lose weight, and no will have cared. Soon after, she will be moved to the new shelter at Miami-Dade Animal Services where she will be spayed and offered to the public for adoption.
And if no one offers to foster or adopt Emma, her final deadline will be posted. Will her life be spared? We wish we knew, but we will continue to try and ask the public to share her plight with friends, family, approved animal rescue organizations and social media. Sharing saves lives.
