Dog’s owner didn’t want him anymore and now he’s about to be euth’ed: Extended one more day

Admin

A five-year-old dog named Wayne is about to be euthanized at the Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control just because his owner no longer wants him. Wayne didn’t do anything wrong; his owner took home new puppies and decided it was time for Wayne to go.

So let’s travel back a few years at Wayne’s history. He was adopted in 2019 and everything had been fine; home was a place where he was loved, but three weeks ago, life for Wayne changed. He was dumped in a box at the shelter after hours. His human returned to the shelter the next day, but then decided Wayne was “too strong and reactive to dogs outside while on a leash.”

But if Wayne could talk, this is what he would have stated:

all of a sudden i no longer get along with the dog she loves more than me, Why don’t you tell them you just don’t want me anymore instead of making up excuses that will only hurt me more than you already did?

The volunteers at the shelter, however have not seen the adverse reactions from Wayne. He has been very quiet and sweet; he has not been reactive to other dogs through his kennel although his shelter notes advise against other dogs in his household.

Please share my story and give me a voice before i die. I’m not a bad dog, I’m just a dog who was no longer wanted or loved by my human. I am a dog who was discarded like an old pair of shoes and replaced with a new pair.

Shelter information:

Staff notes: Friendly and playful with people, sweet and attention seeking. He has

great enthusiasm for attention and being outside!

Request to rescues: Wayne needs urgent rescue due to his reactivity with other dogs on the leash as well as his play group interactions. He is not safe to be around other dogs unfortunately, and risks the safety of other dogs as well as himself at this time. We are also very full at the shelter, and dogs are needing to be paired.
