In Alachua, Florida a police officer with help from a truck driver rescued a tiny kitten lying in the middle of a busy highway earlier this week.
A Facebook post from the Alachua Police Department reported Officer Thomas Stanfield spotted the kitten on U.S. 441 while on patrol on May 12. Vehicles had been speeding past the kitten, and it truly had to have been a miracle the kitten was not injured or killed.

Officer Stanfield stopped his patrol car to rescue the kitten.

Ofc. Stanfield stopped to rescue the kitten from the roadway. Thanks to the help of a Mi Apa Latin Cafe driver who used their truck to assist in stopping traffic, the kitten was safely removed from danger.
We’re thrilled to share that this little furball has found a loving forever home with one of our amazing dispatchers.

The truck driver blocked off one lane of oncoming traffic while the officer picked the kitten up from the road. Body cam showed a vehicle speed past the officer and the kitten just feet away.

And the good news, just in case you didn’t watch the video – the adorable little kitten has been adopted by one of the dispatchers.
Many thanks to the kindness of our police officers and of course, this very special truck driver who knows that every life matters and was willing to prove it.
