A sweet, special needs rescue dog who has been with the SPCA of Southwest Michigan for more than two and a half years and is deaf, had been overlooked by would be adopters. A social media influencer and volunteer at the shelter, Olivia Boblet, used her talents to bring awareness to the shelter dogs and was smitten when she met the senior pooch Swayzee.
So let’s face it; along with being an older dogm although who would even know it by looking at this adorable guy, he was also deaf and thought to have been born deaf. On his plus column however, Swayzee knows sign language and gets along fine with people.
And then it happened; earlier in September. After more than 900 days Swayzee was adopted and had been chosen by a man who was hard of hearing. It seemed like a perfect match.
Olivia put together a going away video which left “happy tears” from followers wishing Swayzee the best life this sweet dog could have for the rest of his life.
And just when everyone thought Swayzee was embarking on his forever new life of adventures, the update on the Facebook page of SPCA of Southwest Michigan appeared:
I hope you remember Swayzee. I recently posted how after 881 days with the SPCA of Southwest Michigan he had finally found a home.
Sadly, because of unforeseen circumstances, Swayzee has been returned.
Although hearing impaired, those involved with the adoption remarked about how well behaved he was. Swayzee being returned was no fault of his own.
I stopped in today to see him and he is outgoing and happy as could be, but he deserves a permanent home.
Please share this again for me, this loving and happy go luck boy needs a home.

He’s 8 years old and his favorite toy is anything that looks like a bouncy ball. However, he doesn’t do well with cats. He might be okay with dogs and kids, but a meet and greet is great advice. Contact them here.
