Cleveland, Texas is one of the known dumping areas for dogs. Only the lucky few make it out alive. Between the dogs starving to death, getting hit on the road or drivers intentionally running the strays over or shooting them, the heartbreaking statistics quickly add up.
And this very hot and humid Sunday morning was no different. The temperatures already had soared to 86 degrees, and with the heat index it felt like 99 degrees. What would you do if you opened your front door and saw a mother dog and her tiny puppies on your porch -waiting and hoping to be helped?
Negligent owners have callously dumped their dogs out on the streets, where unaccustomed to the abandonment from their former homes, wander the area and often times just follow random vehicles hoping their families have returned for them. Others tentatively approach nearby homes – hoping for some mercy, some food and water.
This stray mother dog brought her six sick/ and or injured puppies to someone’s doorstep in Cleveland. The homeowner was afraid of dogs, but she was kind enough to post the situation on social media and ask for help. Unfortunately, it was several hours before ThisIsHouston was notified and were able to step up to help.
This family is one of the lucky ones, however, their story is a heartbreaking one and it’s hard to say her puppies were lucky at all. Stay tuned for more on this family.
