Just before Christmas in December 2021, a young Boxer mix named Deogee faced humane euthanasia at an overcrowded shelter in Tucson, Arizona. At the time, a desperate plea went out on social media describing this perfect pooch and asking for help saving him:
Puppy on Death Row
* To be euthanized on Monday 12/20
* In custody of PACC county shelter in Tucson, AZ
Meet Deojee!!! A handsome Boxer-Pit mix. Only 2 years old, and at risk of being put down.
* dog-friendly (with medium-large size dogs)
* Kids over 16 years old only, please
* Loves people!
Fortunately, Lucy’s Hope Sanctuary & Rescue was able to save Deogee from dying just in time, but there were no adoption offerings. And then Deogee went into boarding.
Sadly, this is his update, but we are now hoping everyone will share his plight and a loving home is in this boy’s near future:
Deojee was pulled from PACC’s e-list way back in December 2021 and has spent the past 630+ days without a home. He spent about 500 of those days living in a Phoenix boarding facility and then was moved to Tucson in April 2023 to live in a crate – where he is still living now. Deojee is confined about 22 hours of the day to that crate.
Volunteers who have interacted with Deojee tell us the now three-year-old pup loves to have fun; his favorite is to play and drop the ball in front of you to throw and he can fetch. He would do best in a home with respectful, older kids or teenagers. He has done well with other dogs of similar size. How he reacts to cats is unknown.
Deojee is non reactive to everything on walks including runners, other dogs, bicycles. He walks well on leash and makes a great hiking buddy. He loves booty scratches and pets.
Deojee has a fun-loving and vibrant personality. He has waited far too long waiting for a home. If interested in Deojee, please complete an application below or email [email protected] / text 602-695-6232 for more details:
Please share; this dog has so many amazing traits it’s not known why he hasn’t found his forever person. Share his photo, share his story and share this article. We can’t wait to be contacted with a photo of his new home and his new family.
