“Gordis” arrived at the City of San Bernardino Animal Services with her sister “Chula” in September. The two are extremely bonded. Gordis is the less fearful of the two, and she protects her sister in a very sweet way.
Both dogs are very cautious around people, but neither dog is aggressive; they tend to avoid confrontation which is workable with positive training and reinforcement exercises. They tend to retreat to the back of their kennels. They have accepted affectionate pets and treats from the trainer while in the play yard as well as in play groups.
… (trainer/behaviorist) they would do better (out of the shelter) separately because although they are bonded, they feed off each others fear…
