Lexus was picked up as a stray running loose in a Houston neighborhood on September 30. She is currently at BARC and on Saturday gave birth to nine puppies. She is heartworm negative, but has dermatitis due to a flea allergy; she is currently on Capstar to make sure the fleas are gone and help her fur grow back.
Both the staff and volunteers have been singing her praises:
This girl might be a new mom but she’s a COOL mom ok?! She’s got puppy in her herself. She could not get enough of the ball with the squeakers. She puts the ball by your side and says More Please!! There were two other puppies in the runs next to her and she was giving them a run for their money. She’s so fun and energetic and would make an amazing hiking companion or great for a family that loves going for runs…
Lexus had been slated to be euthanized last week, but going into labor and giving birth to her puppies bought her more time. The shelter can no longer keep this mom and her puppies; the order to put the family to sleep has been issued, and they need help now.
BARC foster application.
