A heartless family moved out of the country and abandoned their dog in downtown Ft. Worth. The sweet Great Pyrenees was “alone and afraid” – that is until a Good Samaritan contacted the Saving Hope Rescue in Fort Worth and asked for help for the dog; she had been reaching out with her paw from behind the fence of the trash littered back yard.
Maura had been left behind amid the discarded furniture and bags of clothes – both old and new. The family is reported to have returned to Mexico, and left nearly everything they owned behind – including Maura who had been there looking out for help at least the last four days.
Maura’s story struck at the hearts of all animal lovers and rescuers alike:
I can’t believe how some people can be so heartless to leave a part of their family behind animals love us unconditionally and they deserve to be loved back the same. I hope she finds a forever home

Maura is about two years old. Funds are needed for vetting and a foster.
And it’s not as if Maura is the only victim of abandonment. Pearllina, a white shepherd was rescued from downtown Ft Worth. She had been roaming the streets for awhile with no identification/microchip.
We are so so beyond full with dogs. But we couldn’t stand to leave them out in the cold. PLEASE we’re begging, if you have room to foster please do!!! We are so desperate and seriously cannot rescue anymore without finding more large dog fosters.
