Poncho is only nine-months-old, and already his life is nearly over. He was surrendered by his owner to the Riverside Animal Shelter in California where he has been placed on the euthanasia list. Sadly, his human didn’t have time for him anymore, and with the snap of his collar and a flick of his leash, the puppy was tossed away like trash.
Poncho was dumped by his owner at one of the most overcrowded shelters in the country, and now in just over a month, there is no time or space left for him.

PONCHO (#A1740572)
8 months old *NEUTERED*
Border Collie/ Shepherd Mix
This is what we know about Poncho as reported by a volunteer who has met him:
He’s been overlooked in the shelter for 37 days. He’s neutered and ready to go home. I met him shortly after his kennelmate Delilah was rescued, and he was shrieking for help.
So many pups are kennel stressed but this boy was literally slamming his body into the metal wall making such a scary noise. When I approached his kennel, he would stop banging and lay as far away as possible as if to hide.
Poncho needs a local foster or a rescue with a foster to step up. Sharing, tagging, reaching out to low intake humane societies to see if they can take him, finding out of state rescues and transporters, donating, et al.
He can be euthanized at any time.
