At the Riverside Animal Shelter in California, we meet Wilma. This lonely 12-year-old Welsh Corgi is in emergency need of rescue. According to shelter notes:
Geriatric. Declining in shelter environment. Needs immediate exit.
Shelter notes
And so here we have it. A senior dog is sentenced to die just because she is old. At this time, she is “red listed” which means she can be euthanized at any time. Adoptions must be done in person; fees on coded dogs are reduced.
Wilma needs a home where she can feel safe. Yes, she has a few years on her, but she’s ready to give and receive love. Senior dogs have a hard time finding homes; most families prefer puppies. We think senior dogs rock! They are mostly house trained, don’t chew expensive shoes or the furniture and are quite content to find a comfortable spot in their home and enjoy naps, playtime and those extra special rubs and scratches. Please share her plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.
