An off-duty police officer in the North Charleston Police Department has a heart of gold. Officer Dontavis Jones had been working off-duty late last week when he made an unexpected discovery in a dumpster. There he was – a tiny, four-week-old kitten, discarded as if his tiny life didn’t matter.

Well, of course his life matters, and the compassionate officer brought the kitten to the Charleston Animal Society for a health checkup, and while making sure he was healthy, made by the heartwarming decision to adopt the little guy.

Let us introduce you to Rashard Jones – a very lucky tabby cat, who now has a real family of his own where he is sure to be loved and cared for – just in time for the holidays.

Stop by the department’s Facebook page and give a warm thank you to Officer Jones.
