In the San Diego area, Savannah Stuart, founder of Little Hooves Rescue, is mom to two-year-old Willie, a blind Labrador retriever and seven-year-old Carson, an Australian shepherd. What’s so unusual about their bond you ask? The two dogs instantly became best friends; you see Willie is completely blind and Carson is his guide dog.
According to Good Morning America, the two dogs love to play together, and despite Willie being blind, he can do everything dogs with sight can do, including fetch, play and go on walks.
It was almost to the day two years ago when Willie arrived at Stuart’s home.
Carson’s new brother. Thank you I Stand With My Pack for trusting me with him. He is perfect! After losing both his eyes due to untreated eye infections, this boy was given up and discarded. He now has a whole new life ahead of him! For anyone who wants to follow his journey, the boys are on Instagram! @carson_and_willie
In addition to having fun adventures, it seems Carson also keeps Willie on the straight path of behavior. Maybe Willie can’t see, but he sure can feel the love. And he even loves the cat named Archie. Hmmmm… does he think Archie might be a puppy? And to make life even better – Carson and Willie get to hang out with their 13-year-old “brother” Koda soon.
For the next few years, the family will be in Florida as the dogs’ dad serves in the Navy, and after that, hopefully, they will all be heading back to San Diego.
Please don’t shop for your next furry bestie when you can adopt instead.
