According to Newsweek, Braveheart had been a stray living a very rough life. Rescuers set a humane trap baited with food for him in the area he had been scavenging to exist and patiently waited until he entered the trap.
After Braveheart’s video was posted on both TikTok and Facebook, there was an outpouring of love and concern. Sadly, it is not unusual for dogs to be this frightened when arriving at shelters. They are faced with unknown people handling them, endless barking and yelping from other shelter dogs, metal plates and bowls clanging and no way to help these dogs understand their owners are no longer there for them.
Fortunately, for Braveheart, a follow-up video showed him calming down and even wagging his tail.

The Galgo, or Spanish Greyhound, is a breed that has been historically used for hunting hares in the Spanish countryside. Sadly, according to the Galgos del Sol shelter’s website, they can be subjected to inhumane treatment, including being kept in poor conditions and fed inadequately.
