In Miami, Florida, “Mack” has been at Miami-Dade Animal Services since May. This friendly four-year-old American bulldog once had a home and a family, but they surrendered him for unknown reasons. And now he has been at the shelter for nearly eight months – 226 days, and has given up all hope of anyone wanting to adopt him.
Mack is housed in one of the shelter’s glass rooms which are meant to hold dogs “that are last calls” or the dogs that are next to be euthanized. Tragically, there is no reason to kill Mack; he’s just taking up space and has been at the shelter too long. Either he walks out of the front door happily wagging his tail, or will be carried out the back door stuffed in a trash bag.
