As 2023 nears the end, the intensity and frequency of animal cruelty doesn’t appear to abate. And likely being their last miraculous rescue of the year, we have been introduced to Max. This resilient survivor faced unimaginable cruelty and survived.
ThisIsHouston, a nonprofit animal rescue organization, rescued Max the day after Christmas from a local Houston shelter. The dog had been shot through the face, and the miraculous part – the bullet exited through his nose, and Max is expected to make a full recovery.
It had been last week when Max was shot, and even though the local sheriff’s office was called to investigate, their officers didn’t consider the dog’s terrible injuries an emergency that night. The next day, animal control picked Max up, and two days later, ThisIsHouston was notified and asked to help.
Max needs help, and with donations, Max and other dogs just like him can have their well-deserved futures.
