New Jersey man rescued kitty with head stuck in jar on Christmas Day

Admin

A New Jersey man from Irvington had been visiting family on Christmas Day when his phone filled up with messages about a stray cat that had been seen in the area for days with its head stuck in a jar; not able to eat or breathe properly. Neighbors and local animal rescuers had been trying for days to capture the cat, but hadn’t had any luck and they were worried the cat might not survive much longer.

According to AbcNews, rescuer John Debacker and vice president of Long Island Cat/Kitten Solution, met rescue volunteers at the area where the cat was spotted. Debacker was able to slowly approach the cat and was able to grab it before it ran away again.

The video showed how Debacker pulled the jar off of the cat’s head and placed the cat in a carrier. The cat didn’t seem worse for the wear, and luckily didn’t even seem that affected by all the drama helping him. He is now staying at one of the volunteer’s home until it’s determined if he has a home or is feral.

If the cat has a microchip, he will be reunited with his family. If he is feral, he will be neutered and returned to his neighborhood.

Merry Christmas kitty. We are glad you are safe.
