At the Riverside Animal Shelter in California, a five-year-old German shepherd doesn’t even have a name, yet she is already scheduled to be euthanized at any time. There have been no social media posts nor has anyone even mentioned she needs and deserves a home. It seems as if everyone looks away because her eye needs to be surgically removed.

According to her veterinary notes, this sweet dog has an ulcerated eye which needs removal; therefore she can only be released for medical intervention. Staff describe her as social and friendly. She has not been tested with other dogs because of her injury and has been kept separated, however she shows no signs of aggression towards other dogs. Per the shelter veterinarian, the approximate cost for eye removal surgery would be about $1,200.
