In Orlando, Florida, we meet Demona. Yes, this sweet dog does look like a terrible mess, but that has nothing to do with her friendly disposition and her desire to be sleeping in a comfortable bed with lots of love, care and good food.
Demona is an emaciated, unaltered female who is suffering from severe hair loss, is dehydrated and could benefit from rescue placement because of her overall health worries. She has tested negative for heartworm disease.
Here is what the veterinarians at the shelter have to report:
“Reason for exam: Recheck hydration. +/- repeat SQ fluids (vet exam request) Findings: BAR, no eye or nasal discharge, BCS 2.5/9 emaciated with muscle wasting (same), RR 20bpm, normal ambulation, severe hair loss (same), has sweater. Slow skin tent, slight improved from yesterday, mild dehydrated. Mucous membranes very pale pink, anemic. No weakness noted today. Recommendations: request tech exam, repeat SQ fluids. Continue Petinic. Continue feed twice daily. Continue daily tech exam for 1 week, feed Hill’s A/D 1 can at lunchtime. Recheck in 1 week. Recheck tomorrow for hydration.”
