At the Humane Society of Broward County in Florida, a resilient pup named Zion isn’t giving up his dream to become someone’s favorite four-legged friend in a loving home. His plight has broken the hearts of staff and volunteers alike at the shelter.
Oh Zion. He was just being a dog! This gorgeous 1-year-old pup is zion, and sadly he has been given up 3 times now all because his humans did not understand him.
Zion is a Caanan Dog, an exciting working breed who like to keep busy with their people and have lots of time to play, especially with other dogs. They are extremely intelligent, and enjoy learning new things and pleasing their owner. Sadly, Zion was never given a chance to prove any of this. His first family gave him up because he became destructive and cried when he was alone. His next family left him outside 24 hours a day and then complained that he barked too much.
This exciting breed is strong-willed, dedicated companions and ideally should have at least an hour of exercise daily with consistent mental stimulation. They love to be with their humans on hikes, jogs or even an agility course. And after that energetic and fun time, Zion would be more than happy to take a nap and cuddle.
Zion has been let down, and now, through no fault of his own, he is back at the shelter hoping for yet another chance to be the incredible dog that he is. The staff loves him; Zion loves to give kisses, has a great disposition, and his favorite things to do include playing with other dogs and of course, the coveted car rides.
Of all the cool things that Zion has experienced, perhaps one of the coolest is Zion meeting NHL player Sam Bennett. Sam and his wife like Zion so much, they have offered to pay his adoption fee – to the right family pleassseeee.
Now in Game 1 of the finals, the Panthers shut out the Oilers. Game 2 is on Monday night, and Florida will try to take a strong hold on the series with a 2-0 lead. What a party Zion is hoping to celebrate, and what a party it would be for Zion to find his perfect home too.
