A Lee County Sheriff’s Deputy surely must have the rare talent of animal whisperer; an animal psychic who communicates with animals. What we mean by that is Deputy Lopez’ unusual ability to perceive information not available to most of us. How many people can pick up an injured bobcat in their arms without suffering a scratch or even worse?
It had been on December 27 when the deputy spotted the injured bobcat. Because of its injuries and perhaps a desire to be comforted, the bobcat was extremely docile and didn’t mind when Deputy Lopez picked him up and held him in his arms as if it was a domesticated kitty. Most likely the bobcat had been hit by a vehicle while crossing the road.
he was able to get this stunning fur baby to safety and transport him to Blue pearl Animal hospital where he reportedly will make a full recovery.
And the awesome news of the bobcat’s story continued, much to the amusement and congratulations from the public.
it’s amazing what our deputies come across while out keeping our great residents safe …all in a day’s work.
The bobcat has since been transferred and is recuperating at the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW).

Here she is. PATIENT UPDATE! Our staff set up a trail cam in the Bobcat’s enclosure to assess her behavior without the stress of human interaction. After monitoring the patient’s behavior and providing supportive care, this Bobcat was cleared for transfer to our friends at Wildlife Center of Southwest Florida for continued care!

Many thanks to all of our heroes who speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. And a special thank you to Deputy Lopez.
