An X-ray revealed the extent of his injuries: a broken jaw, a shattered pelvis, and a damaged tail.
Despite these terrible injuries, Pluto displayed incredible resilience and never considered giving up. The dog spent six long months at the shelter, tenaciously fighting to survive.
He underwent multiple surgeries, and remarkably, he pulled through.
Initially, it was uncertain whether Pluto would ever walk again, but his caregivers never allowed him to feel hopeless. They showered him with love, support, and filled his heart with unwavering hope.
The pup was persistent and determined, and he continued to make a valiant effort to stand on his paws, taking his recovery one day at a time. Pluto’s shelter friends were overjoyed when he finally began to walk again.

Once Pluto was deemed ready to begin his search for a forever home, Waldo’s Rescue Pen, a rescue organization located in New York, graciously took him into their care.
They placed him in a loving foster home, providing him with a nurturing and supportive environment.
In the beginning, Pluto was understandably guarded and cautious around his foster mom, Clare. Recognizing his need for space and time to decompress, she allowed him to adjust to his new surroundings at his own pace.
It didn’t take long for Pluto to realize that he could trust his foster mom. He gradually began to let his guard down and started to enjoy cuddling with her, seeking comfort and affection.
Feeling safe and secure, the pup allowed his goofy and playful personality to shine through.
As time passed, Pluto’s bond with his foster family grew stronger. He was incredibly grateful and affectionate towards them, expressing his appreciation in countless ways.
“Whatever I’m doing, he’s looking at me with so much affection. It’s the sweetest thing ever,” Clare shared with Cuddle Buddies, conveying the depth of their connection.
