A Pregnant Dog in Need of Rescue
Rescuers found Zia, a pregnant dog marked with the signs of a difficult life on the streets, wandering in a neighborhood. They brought her to a shelter, a noisy and stressful environment, but a safe haven nonetheless. Zia, despite her circumstances, remained trusting and grateful, believing that humans would help her.
From Shelter to Foster Care and Motherhood
In February 2019, Fresno Bully Rescue in California took Zia from the shelter, and a compassionate foster mom named Noelani welcomed her into her home. Zia immediately expressed her gratitude with affectionate licks and kisses. Noelani provided Zia with a soothing bath and prepared a whelping box. Just five days later, Zia gave birth to four healthy puppies: Zoie, Zeus, Zorro, and Zaina. Noelani supported Zia throughout the birthing process, and Zia proved to be a devoted and excellent mother, nurturing her puppies with care.
Finding Forever Homes for All
As the puppies grew, their individual personalities began to emerge. Zia enjoyed watching them experience the joys of puppyhood in a safe and loving environment. In time, each of Zia’s puppies found wonderful forever homes. Zia, however, remained with Noelani, awaiting her own happy ending.
A Loving Forever Home and a Lasting Legacy
Fortunately, Zia’s wait was not long. A loving family saw her on Noelani’s Instagram and instantly fell in love. In May 2019, Zia moved to San Francisco to begin her new life. She thrived in her forever home, receiving abundant love and affection from her new parents and their children. Her mom, Liz, frequently shared updates about Zia’s happy life on Instagram. In December 2019, Zia faced another challenge when she was diagnosed with cancer. She underwent surgery and successfully became cancer-free. Zia continued to enjoy her life until January 2024, when she peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge. Her family mourned her loss but cherished the wonderful memories they had created together, forever grateful for the special dog who had brought so much love into their lives.
