The Power of Fostering

Fostering a puppy is a selfless act of kindness. By providing a temporary home and care, foster parents help abandoned dogs heal from emotional trauma and prepare for their forever homes. These dogs desperately need a fresh start, and foster parents play a crucial role in their journey to recovery.

Kaitlin Devoto’s fostering journey began with a leap of faith. With little knowledge of the dog she was about to meet, she agreed to foster. When she picked up the dog at a pickup center in New York, she was captivated by the beautiful red poodle.

An Unexpected Twist

As Devoto examined the poodle, she noticed she might be producing milk. Assuming it was due to a previous litter, Devoto continued to care for the dog. However, she soon discovered a surprising truth: the dog was pregnant.

A New Addition to the Family

Four days into fostering, Devoto was awakened by a tiny puppy nestled in the dog’s bed. The unexpected arrival of the newborn puppy brought immense joy and responsibility. Devoto quickly created a comfortable space for the mother and her pup.

Naming the new puppy was a fun and creative process. Devoto decided on the name Chicky Nug, inspired by the puppy’s resemblance to a chicken nugget. To keep with the theme, she named the mother Mickey D.

As Chicky Nug grew, he became a playful and energetic companion. Mickey D, once shy, gradually opened up and became more outgoing. Devoto’s home became a loving and nurturing environment for the dog family.

Finding Forever Homes

While Devoto cherished her time with the dogs, she knew their journey wouldn’t end with her. Louie’s Legacy Animal Rescue was working to find them suitable forever homes through a standard adoption process.

Although it’s unclear if the dogs have found their new families, there’s no doubt that their adorable personalities and loving nature will make them irresistible to potential adopters.
