Henri, a small with big, sad eyes, had always been the center of attention in his family home. He loved to play fetch, cuddle on the couch, and go on walks with his human family. Today was his second birthday, but instead of celebrating, he was being taken to a rescue shelter. His owner was moving away and couldn’t take him along.

Henri felt a wave of sadness wash over him as they drove to the shelter. He looked at his owner with pleading eyes, hoping she would change her mind. But he knew it was no use. His owner was heartbroken too, but she had no other choice.

When they arrived at the shelter, Henri was filled with dread. The place was noisy and chaotic, filled with barking dogs and unfamiliar smells. His owner hugged him tightly, tears streaming down her face. “I’m so sorry, Henri,” she whispered. “I love you so much.”

As they said goodbye, Henri felt a pang of loneliness. He had never been away from his family before. He missed his human family, the familiar scent of their home, and the comfort of their company.

In the shelter, Henri was placed in a kennel with other dogs. He felt lost and scared. He tried to call out to his owner, but his voice was lost in the noise.

As the day wore on, Henri’s sadness grew deeper. He felt so alone and unwanted. He thought about giving up, but he knew he couldn’t do that. He had to be strong for his family.

Just as Henri was about to fall asleep, he heard a familiar voice. It was his human friend, who had come to visit him. She brought him a special bone-shaped treat and gave him a big hug. Henri’s heart ached with sadness. He wanted to go home with her.

As his friend left, Henri felt a glimmer of hope. He knew that his family loved him, and he hoped that one day they would be able to bring him home. Until then, he would do his best to survive in the shelter, waiting patiently for the day when he would be reunited with his family.
