A Shelter in Crisis
Pita, a heavily pregnant dog, arrived at a crowded shelter in Los Angeles. The shelter, unable to provide the necessary care for Pita and her unborn puppies, reached out to MaeDay Rescue for help.
A New Hope for Pita
Natalie Garcia, founder of MaeDay Rescue, was immediately struck by Pita’s condition. She knew Pita needed immediate care and a safe environment to give birth.
After an ultrasound, the rescue team was shocked to discover the number of puppies Pita was carrying. With the impending birth, finding a foster home became crucial.
A Foster Family’s Love
MaeDay Rescue successfully placed Pita in a loving foster home, providing her with comfort and support during her pregnancy.
Pita gave birth to five healthy puppies, named Baguette, Focaccia, Ciabatta, Loaf, and Rye. The rescue team was overjoyed by the litter’s arrival.
A Happy Ending
The puppies’ unique black and yellow fur revealed a surprising truth: their father was Bagel, a dog who had arrived at the shelter with Pita. Despite being separated during Pita’s pregnancy, Bagel was also rescued and placed in a foster home.
Both Pita and Bagel eventually found their forever homes, where they could live happily with their loving families. Their puppies, too, will hopefully find their own homes soon.
Pita’s story is a testament to the power of rescue organizations and the compassion of individuals who open their hearts to animals in need. It is a heartwarming reminder that even in the most challenging circumstances, love and hope can prevail.
