UPDATE: Dog intentionally left to starve in owner’s backyard shares his first day of his new life with us

Admin

In Highland, just five miles from San Bernardino, California, Faith Easdale and rescue volunteers from Dream Fetchers: Project Rescue, had been sent a social media message attached to an already viral photo of an emaciated dog lying in his owner’s backyard. When rescuers arrived at the home, the owner of the dog insisted he had been feeding the dog, named Gator, twice a day, giving him lots of water and didn’t know why his dog was so skinny.

Other sources told the Faith that Gator was supposedly aggressive and therefore had been chained up, and the owners refused to take him to a veterinary hospital to be examined. At some point in the poor dog’s miserable life, food had been thrown at him in the yard, but the other dog had likely eaten it.

And as kindhearted and as wanting to believe this dog owner had good intentions, Faith believed his story. The owner bid a teary farewell to his dog as rescuers helped to load Gator into their van and transport the dog to the organization’s emergency veterinarian hospital.

Gator is being cared for and loved

So far nothing has shown on bloodwork

I spoke to animal control. They are aware of the situation they told me how to handle this

The police have been there

We are doing our best to restore and heal him

You can see what an amazing team at the hospital is

I’m sure we were able to get him just in time

Not long after Gator arrived at the veterinarian, his body condition score was rated as “1” out of “9” – the worst starvation level before dying. The amazing staff at the hospital tenderly gave Gator a bath, and it was most likely Gator’s first experience being cuddled and primped with such love and affection.
