It was an adorable pug, whose expression on her face and eyes broke hearts as her owners surrendered her to a crowded animal shelter in Los Angeles just a few weeks ago.
The one-year-old puppy trembled with fear, and she looked as if she was going to cry. It had been on January 17 when her family arrived in tears after deciding to surrender her after someone in the home was diagnosed as allergic. The family had hoped the shelter would be able to find their little pup a good home.
First, check out the video:
Two team members of HIT Living Foundation had been at the South LA Shelter when Macaroni was being surrendered. They had already made arrangements to rescue another dog and her puppies, but after seeing Macaroni’s face and knowing how many dogs never make it out of the shelter, decided to take her home.
It seems as if Macaroni had a difficult time adjusting to her foster home. Mostly, she stayed in her crate with the door open, and just curled up into a ball and watched. Luckily, it had been one of her foster mom’s other dogs who was able to coax her out and start to realize life wasn’t so bad, and all this sadness, fear and loneliness would soon be in the past.
And then came a social media post announcing Macaroni was looking for her forever home. There were several applications, but it wasn’t long before her foster to adopter family decided they wanted to keep her.
Macaroni update:
Check out how happy she is!
