‘Summer’ went from loved to losing both her humans and her home

Admin

Summer, a gentle 10-year-old Labrador retriever mix, finds herself facing a harsh reality after losing both her owners. Surrendered to the already full Randolph County Animal Shelter in North Carolina, she now stares down the euthanasia deadline of February 27th.

As noted by a rescue volunteer, this double tragedy has left Summer scared and confused; unsure of where life took the wrong turn. Owner-surrendered due to one owner’s passing and the other’s health concerns, Summer grapples with the loss of not only her loved ones but also the home she’s always known.

Despite her heartbreak, Summer’s kind spirit shines through. Described as a “gentle giant,” she longs for the comfort and love she once knew. However, her journey hasn’t been easy. Struggling with obesity, Summer navigates the world with weary steps and a concerning mass on her neck. While it currently doesn’t seem to bother her, it requires further evaluation and potential treatment.

Time is running out for Summer. The overcrowded shelter, unable to provide the individualized care she desperately needs, has issued her a final date. With the clock ticking, hope rests on finding a rescue willing to open their hearts and offer her a safe haven.

Summer’s story is a stark reminder of the challenges faced by shelter animals, especially those dealing with grief and medical concerns. It also highlights the crucial role rescue organizations play in offering second chances.

If you, or someone you know, can provide rescue or transport assistance, please contact the Randolph County Animal Shelter at [email protected]. Together, we can ensure Summer doesn’t lose everything again, but instead finds the love and care she deserves.

UPDATE: (Just posted)

Has RESCUE COMMITMENT

Summer and her brother (just learned of him) have rescue picking them up Friday. Do not honor pledges until updated with rescue and freedom pics. There are scammers all over these posts trying to take money from these innocent souls.
