A five-year-old Great Dane, referred to at the Gwinnett Animal Shelter in Lawrenceville, Georgia, as a beautiful gentle giant, was found in May, standing on the porch outside of a home. It was not known at the time whether the dog had been abandoned, if the family moved away and forgot him, or if they had let the dog outside and refused to let him back in the house.
Animal Control officers notified the owner leaving a note on their front door; no one answered, and no one ever came to the shelter to reclaim their beautiful dog.
According to shelter volunteers, “Storm” is very gentle, does not jump and has shown no reactivity to any other dogs around him in the shelter kennel area. He does pull on his leash, but that very well may be contributed to wanting to run around and perhaps using up some of his pent up energy in a play yard?
Veterinary notes indicate his one eye is red which might be cherry eye. A licensed veterinarian will be needed to check him out and make any recommendations for more testing and further care.
This is what the shelter has to say about this awesome guy:
“At 112 pounds of pure baby, Storm, ID#103292, is ready for his ‘pawfect’ match. He’s got 5 years good boy experience, but he is pretty unsure of his new surroundings. We met this sweetheart back on May 29 after he was found alone in Buford without identification, this big boy has been waiting for his next adventure. He will need a home that’s low key and calm to help him feel as safe and secure as he can. Are you the right match for Storm?”
