Her name is Allie (#A1949136), and on June 21, the 13-year-old German shepherd arrived at BARC in Houston, Texas severely underweight and obviously neglected. She wore a loose, dirty collar; whoever had been her human in the past didn’t much care about her – that’s for sure.
At one time, Allie did have an owner, because she knows her basic commands including “sit” when asked. In her kennel cage, she greeted the volunteer with a “wagging tail and big puppy eyes.” She was very anxious for treats; likely because she was so very skinny and so very hungry.
According to Allie’s medical notes, she has numerous needs as noted:
6/21/24: underweight, ou lenticular opacities, generalized areas of hair thinning, stiff in rear end, cranial nipple mass, high HW+
A: underweight, ddx ou nuclear sclerosis/cataracts, ddx flea allergy/atopy, ddx
hip dysplasia, mass, high HW+
P: rx capstar sid x 2
Check out one of Allie’s videos here as she meets another dog. She is just so sweet!
