A lucky shaggy pup was rescued on Monday afternoon as he tried to hide in the median of a busy highway in Portland, Oregon. Fortunately two women spotted the stray dog along I-205.
According to Fox News, Heather March and Heather Parchem stopped to help along with police officers.
“We just lassoed him and got him into my truck and, 50-50, we turned around and drove back…,” Parchem stated.
The two women own a grooming business and noticed the dog had sticks all over his face. They think he had been thrown out of a vehicle and rolled.
The veterinarian estimates the dog, now dubbed Freeway, is approximately five-years-old, suffered some minor injuries, but is expected to make a full recovery. He is currently being fostered by his rescuers who ultimately want to find the perfect home for him if his owner doesn’t show up. Freeway was not wearing a collar and has no microchip.
Freeway has been reported to have been “found” to Multnomah County Animal Shelter in case his family shows up.
A GoFundMe has been set up for Freeway.
“Settling in for his second night now. He has gone potty (which we were worried about). So that’s a huge deal! He is starting to walk a bit better with pain meds, too. He is in love with the kids and the feeling is mutual. He’s a brave little man and we are super proud of him!”
