Animal control officer fired for beating and abusing dogs

In Mobile, Alabama, the City of Mobile Animal Control fired a dogcatcher for allegedly beating and abusing at least one dog. Police state the disturbing incident occurred on November 10.

According to FoxNews, Christopher Dressel had been at the Alabama Port Authority to pick up two dogs. When he arrived the dogs began to bark; Dressel was witnessed by a police officer “kick one of them” and then strike it “with enough force to break the leash and cause the dog to defecate.”

The police officer ordered Dressel back to his truck and then “loaded the dogs up for him.”

“The Port Authority’s police officer witnessed an animal control officer abusing the animals and immediately intervened to stop the abuse. Our Port Authority Police took steps to protect the animals…”

Dressel contends he should not have been fired because the dogs were aggressive and he was protecting himself. A video of the incident has been turned over to the Mobile Police.

An investigation continues.
