In the Vermilion area of Louisiana, authorities arrived at a home on Saturday to serve legal papers and found a horribly neglected dog. Nyla was immediately seized weighing less than 20 pounds – less than half the weight she should be.
Sadly, her photos tell her story.
At Animal Aid for Vermilion Area (AAVA), a plea went out for help.
“She is horribly emaciated. Terrible skin condition. No food. Feces filled water bowl,” the group posted on their Facebook page.
And if the overt signs of egregious neglect weren’t clear enough for anyone to see, Nyla’s owner insisted he takes good care of his dog.The owners have been cited.
Nyla was rushed to an emergency veterinarian hospital and administered intravenous fluids for dehydration. She has a long road to recovery.
“… We need help with her vetting expenses. Thank God Nyla was found before extremely cold weather. We can only think how many more there are like her…”
