In Marion County, Florida, a 12-year-old boy has been arrested after being accused of tying a dog to a tree and beating it in the face with a metal pipe.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 Deputy Coleman with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office arrested 12-year-old Christopher Alveraz-Murillo on one count of aggravated animal cruelty. Christopher’s mother contacted Animal Services and told them her son tied a dog up and beat it with a pipe.
A witness who had been repairing a broken water pipe asked the child where the dog named Tiny had been. As the repair person went into the backyard to locate the dog, Christopher tried to run away.
“When the witness approached Tiny in the backyard he found him unconscious, with a rope around his neck and blood on his face. When Deputy Coleman made contact with Christopher, Christopher advised he tied Tiny to a tree in the backyard with a rope and began to discipline him by hitting Tiny with his hands and a stick. He said he also hit Tiny with two silver metal pipes. Christopher claims to have hit Tiny a total of 10 times in the face and body. Christopher told Deputy Coleman ‘I think I took it a little too far,’” the sheriff’s office reported.
The boy was arrested and remains at the Marion County Department of Juvenile Justice.
Tiny has been reported as recovering well.
