Florida man kicked chicken ‘like a field goal’ for making annoying chirps

Admin

In Marathon, Florida, a man was arrested on Monday and charged with animal cruelty after he was accused of kicking a chicken “like a football player kicks a field goal,” authorities from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office stated.

According to the Miami Herald, Nicholas Kevin Chew, 43, told authorities he kicked the Rhode Island Red chicken because the noises the animal made annoyed him.

“Chew admitted to kicking the chicken out of the way, further admitting his annoyance by the noise the birds cause. A separate witness stated he saw Chew kick the chicken in the way a football player would kick a field goal,” the sheriff’s office reported.

The incident occurred in March after deputies responded to a domestic argument at which time Chew’s girlfriend said she was angry that Chew broke the chicken’s leg after kicking it. The chicken was taken by animal control and transferred to a veterinary hospital where it was treated for four broken ribs. The chicken was later returned to its owner.

Chew was arrested and is being help in lieu of $10,000 bail.
