In Palm Coast, Florida, a 16-year-old was arrested on Monday after a friend uploaded videos to Snapchat which showed the teen holding a dog by the neck and beating it with a leather belt. According to deputies, the teen has been charged with felony, aggravated animal cruelty.
According to Newsbreak, the teenager told authorities that the dog, a seven-year-old Pomeranian named Kush, was one of the dogs currently in his care. The dog had defecated in the house and the suspect stepped in it and became angry. It was at this point the teen said he began “disciplining” the dog.
The first 14-second video showed the dog yelping in pain and trying to squirm away. The dog, unable to get free, turned around and seemingly bit the suspect’s hand who then continued beating the pup. The second 19-second video showed the dog being beaten more while laughing could be heard in the background. The teen then grabbed the dog by the neck and whipped him three more times on the butt. Afterward the yelping dog cried out in pain and ran back to its cage.
Kush cowered in fear as he licked his wounds; the suspect closed the cage and continued to yell at the dog.
Police were able to trace the video to the suspect’s 15-year-old friend. The Palm Coast Animal Control seized the dogs and transferred them to Flagler Animal Hospital.
The suspect was booked at the Flagler County Jail and a charging affidavit has been forwarded to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
