Kratos: A dog’s will to survive overcomes the cruelty and neglect he faced

Admin

At the McKamey Animal Center (MAC) in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the recent surge of animals hit by cars and abandoned has become a heartbreaking trend. One such victim is Kratos; a brave soul whose fight for life inspires us all.

A Good Samaritan found Kratos, battered and bloodied lying on the side of the road. Thankfully, they didn’t hesitate; they called MAC. The animal welfare officers rushed him to the clinic, where the dedicated veterinary team took over. His history is unknown, but could he have been a victim of dog fighting?

The sight that greeted them was grim. Kratos was covered in open sores, infected wounds, and his progress over the past day had been minimal. Sepsis loomed large, a terrifying threat to his already fragile state. As the team headed home, their fingers and paws were crossed, hoping Kratos, with that strong desire to survive, would make it through the night.

As the morning sun reached up to bring the light of day, the veterinary staff were relieved to see Kratos standing up; he had already eaten his dinner including taking his medicine with no refusal.

He’s willing to fight to get well, and MAC is delighted to be following his lead. What a brave and determined dog Kratos has proven to be!

Kratos is definitely not out of the woods just yet; his wounds are infected, deep and painful. He will have a long and costly recovery process ahead of him. As long as he is willing to fight for a new life, MAC is determined to help every step of the way.

Kratos is just one of a handful of dogs in MAC’s care receiving life-saving treatments right now. Without your support, this wouldn’t be possible! Please consider donating to Kratos and the other animals in their care by giving here: bit.ly/MAC-Donate-Now

Every dollar counts. It helps MAC provide critical care to Kratos and countless other animals who come to MAC desperately needing a second chance.

Updates on Kratos to follow. We’re rooting for you boy!
