Police horses on the lam galloped down interstate causing quite a traffic spectacle

Admin

Clevelanders experienced a bit of a neigh-rvous breakdown this past weekend when two police horses decided to escape their routine and cause a stir on Interstate 90. The equine escapees, who were part of the city’s mounted unit, weren’t exactly following the rules of the road.

NBC News reported security footage captured the pair casually strolling down the side of the road near their stables before making a daring break for freedom. They trotted onto the interstate, much to the surprise of Saturday afternoon drivers. Videos online showed the horses weaving through traffic, causing a slowdown before eventually bringing things to a complete halt.

Thankfully, there were no reports of injuries to the horses or any drivers. Police officers from the mounted unit promptly wrangled the adventurous animals, and order was restored on I-90.

Sergeant Wilfredo Diaz of the Cleveland Police Department assured the public that the escape was accidental.

The horses inadvertently strayed during routine care and exercise. Mounted officers promptly recovered both horses, ensuring their safety, and no further incidents ensued.

While the incident caused some temporary frustration, it also provided a bit of lighthearted entertainment for Cleveland residents. The Ohio Department of Transportation even got in on the fun, posting a tongue-in-cheek message on social media:

Some real horsepower on I-90 in downtown Cleveland today.

So, the next time you’re stuck in Cleveland traffic, remember – it might not be your average rush hour hold-up. You just might find yourself sharing the road with a couple of adventurous police horses with a mind of their own.
