Affectionate senior who loves his ‘lamb chop’ stuffy needs temporary help to save his life

Admin

Meet Amos; this senior loves his “lamb chop,” but how long will he have to play with it? Sadly, he is on Friday’s euthanasia list in Texas at BARC. Amos has rescue interest, however he needs a foster home for the next two months to save his life.

Let’s get to know Amos:

Volunteers and staff refer to this eight-year-old, 76-pound Staffordshire terrier mix as a hunk! He’s friendly and eager to please. He was given the lamb chop toy by a volunteer who found out how much Amos loves to play with toys. The staff wasn’t exaggerating – Amos loves his new toy! He has carried it proudly; from walking down the aisle towards the door and even keeping it in his mouth even when he urinated.

He shows his age a bit by his stiff gait; his eyes look older and his teeth have yellowed, but don’t despair. He’s one of those seniors who will never get old – play and love, play and love.

The volunteer did express some concern about Amos’ belly because it’s so round, however he isn’t coughing, did fine on his temp test and got along fine with two other males on the playground.

Staff Notes:

(summarized for space) Amos greeted the staff member at his kennel door wagging his tail. He was easily leashed and anxious to go for a walk. Appears to be potty trained and has kept his kennel clean. He joined another dog, Lisa in the play yard, and they did fine together. He loves his toys, and when brought back to his kennel was quiet for the rest of the day.

Medical Notes:

Slight hair loss on his back. Friendly, moves stiffly and has difficulty balancing on floors – thought he might have osteoarthritis and hip dysplasia. He is currently on Carprofen 150mg.

This guy is so adorable. How about one more video?
