Can we help this dog? Legend has been at shelter because of ‘human failure’

Admin

Meet Legend. She has been a resident at the Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter in New York for over a year. Isn’t it time she found a home where she could lie in bed and enjoy belly rubs?

This adorable gal was picked up as a stray and brought to the shelter in August 2019. When found, she was emaciated, flea infested and weighed only 44 pounds. Her owner stated Legend had been under a veterinarian’s care, but the woman was not able to supply any records about the dog’s care. Ultimately, the dog was surrendered to the shelter.

“Legend is between 8 and 10 years young, and known as a big goof at the shelter. She is very silly and super happy girl. She is an energetic, outgoing girl who loves every person she meets. She is very food motivated and her favorite thing to do other than lay next to you and soak up all the affection possible is to play a good game of fetch.

Legend is extremely affectionate and very playful!”

It is recommended that Legend be placed in a home with a six-foot fence since she does have a history of escaping her yard. This would ensure she has a place to play and share her love and not be involved with any other pets. This poor gal has been at the shelter too long – all because her previous family never put the time nor the effort to teach her good canine citizenship habits.

“The main reason Legend ended up at the shelter comes down to human failure. All she wants is to be loved and hopes to get a second chance that she so desperately needs and deserves.”

Please share Legend’s story with friends, families and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives and helps find those loving homes our shelter dogs deserve. Somewhere out here that is the perfect match for Legend – is it you?

Legend is about 65 pounds, eight years young, up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed, micro-chipped and heartworm negative.
