At Miami-Dade Animal Services, an urgent situation prompts a need for an emergency rescue of a frightened young dog. An employee had accidentally left the kennel door open, and an incident with someone from the public was reported.
According to volunteers and rescuers at the shelter at the time of the incident, the two-year-old dog, Kelci had been running around loose in the pod. At the same time, a father, mother and child walked around the corner, and the dog was startled. The child attempted to kick the dog with her foot, and the dog lunged at the child in fear. The child’s father then kicked the dog in the face. The employee responsible for not taking charge of Kelci, just watched and did nothing to intervene for several minutes.
Another person who had witnessed the scene grabbed the dog. The child’s mother reported the incident, however it clearly had been the fault of the employee who lost control of the situation.
So this dog will lose her life, a dog with no incidents who was doing everything right all because of incompetence.

And to make matters even more tragic, Kelci had been scheduled to go to an event because she’s such a good dog. She has participated in playgroups with other dogs and has done well.
